Training style Training for the GPRs is delivered in a number of styles within the IAMS practice setting. the GPR have protected time with their supervisor for 1 hour each week, for the GPRs to be educated from the supervisor and for the GPRs to share their experiences within the practice. The GPRs also have the opportunity to engage with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members with attending Aboriginal Community Based programs operated by the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. Furthermore the GPRs attend the Indigenous Health Training day with is facilitated by the IAMS staff in collaboration with the CCCGPT medical educator Jemima Grant.
Special Interest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Holistic Health Care. Close the Gap, Practice Incentive Programs, TeleHealth, Chronic Disease Management, Acute Care and Point of Care Testing.
Support Team The clinic support model within the IAMS operates on a multidisciplinary approach. The Aboriginal Health Worker, Practice Nurse and General Practitioner all work collaboratively together within a team environment, also with the assistance of the Allied Health Service providers, and other disciplines within the organisation.
Allied Health Staff The IAMS has the following AH staff in practice; Optometrist, Podiatrist, Dentist, Dental Therapist, Massage Therapist, Social Worker, Diabetes Educator Nurses, Dietician, Audiologist, Psychologist and Psychiatrist, just to name a few. The IAMS also has a number of Referral Pathways in place for accessibility to; Ear Nose and Throat specialist, Physio Therapist, Paediatrician, Ophthalmologist, Endocrinologist etc.
Amenities There are 1x reception area (Medical), 1x Practice Nurse office, 1x Early Childhood Nurse office, 1x Manager office, 2x GP surgeries, 1x GPR surgery (designated), 1x Treatment Room and 1x Aboriginal Health Worker (observation) office for the Wollongong site. There are 1x reception area (Medical and Community Services), 1x Principal Practice Nurse office, 1x Aboriginal Health Worker office, 2x GP surgeries, 1x Observation Room and 1x Treatment Room for the Dapto site.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people within the Illawarra regions choose not to partake in statistics as such due to a number of contributing factors.

House Calls Home Visits are available to clients of the IAMS on a (needs) basis. This service is primarily provided to the elderly clientele and clients with chronic care needs.

Procedure room activity GPs do provide some on-day surgeries services within their GP surgeries. Supervisor will be able to address this further. Some I can comment on are; Pap Smears, Implanon insertion, biopsies, skin leisure removals etc.
