Dr. Siva Rajadurai
Since attaining my Rural General Practice training position with CoastCityCountry General Practice Training, I have developed into a more thorough, conscientious and empathic doctor. Being a rural registrar is a very challenging job, especially at the onset; however a smooth transition was facilitated through the guidance and training provided by CoastCityCountry General Practice Training. As a rural registrar, I was looked after from all aspects, be it financial, emotional or educational. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful and lifelong experience to others interested in becoming a rural practitioner under CoastCityCountry General Practice Training.

In my last 2 years with CCCGPT I have worked part-time as a GP Registrar in a regional setting whilst raising 2 small children. It has been a journey of discovery on both fronts and I feel privileged to have found a sustainable balance between work and family life. This is due in part to the amazing support offered by my medical educators and administration staff. I have always felt part of a close-knit team and when life has had its ups and downs I was able to change course with a lot of personal and professional support. In addition I have had the opportunity to integrate teaching medical students from the local University into my educational experience and have found this to be a great passion with which I hope to continue.
I would recommend training in a regional area for both lifestyle and work reasons. I live only minutes from work and the local beach but also very close to a Teaching Hospital with emergency facilities and specialist support. The hours I would have spent commuting to and from work in the city are now free to spend at the beach with my boys.
In terms of my work environment, I have been fortunate to have 2 highly experienced GP supervisors who practice evidence based medicine and are wonderful teachers. I am busy but not overloaded (no overtime!) and see a good mix of patients. The education offered by CCCGPT has been relevant, stimulating and holistic, with an emphasis on self-directed learning and self care. There are options to pursue special interests and financial support to enhance skills.
I would not hesitate to recommend CCCGPT as a training provider- their niche is in acknowledging the individual needs of their registrars and providing a flexible, personal program.

I appreciate Coast City Country General Practice training for their excellent service and quality education. They have been understanding and flexible with the program, allowing me to take leave and train part time so as I could also care for my first baby.
The Medical Educators are passionate about teaching and take a real interest in helping registrars learn the art of General Practice. They provide individual feedback and assistance with developing a learning plan and also provide group workshops across the region which are fun and interesting, including pre exam tutorials. They are inspiring and great mentors. I enjoyed my training with Coast City Country General Practice and would recommend it for prospective registrars.
